Web and Flow

Writing for websites is a whole different bag of words from ad copy, brochure blurb or DM speak. For me, the most important considerations are tone of voice and brevity. Whilst always acknowledging SEO, the copy must never become lumpy and compromise the flow of the story. Above all, I must always keep in mind how people negotiate websites. All too often they don’t have the time or patience to hang around and read lengthy narrative. Usually, a quick fix is quite enough. So, the copy must engage with a shortness and sweetness and never disappear up its own raison d'être.
